Litter liners light up downtown Indianapolis – helping visitors keep downtown clean

Starting at the end of February, nearly 200 city center trash cans will be decorated with colorful trash wrappers. The colorful wrappers are blue and green with the message “Put your rubbish in its place” and “Keep the city center clean”. The goal of this initiative is to encourage consumers to put trash in its place and raise public awareness of cleanliness in the city center. The Trash Wrap program originated in 2000 when the Indianapolis Downtown Cleanup Advisory Committee Inc. decided to transform the trash cans. The program was introduced as part of the preparations for the NCAA Final Four on the festive stage. The wraps have been such a hit with visitors, businesses and the community that they now appear every spring. For more information, call IDI at 237.2222.
