How to Improve Vertical Jump and Improve 40 Times

You go out on the basketball court and dream of the day you can jump up and grab the rim. You have visions of dunks in your head, and you ask yourself, “How can I jump so vertically”? Maybe you’re watching an American football game on television and watch in amazement as the players run up and down the field at incredible speed. You get discouraged in your dream of being a star running back because you don’t believe you’ll ever be able to match those guys’ 40-yard dash times, so you just give up on your dream. Fortunately, our muscles are built to improve, and like anything else, your 40x and vertical jumps can improve dramatically with these tips.

To improve your vertical jump, follow these exercises:

1. Big Jump – Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Lower your body into a squat position, with your arms bent so that your elbows are pointing towards the sky, and push off the ground with all your strength. Jump as high as you can. When you land, immediately return to the second rep and jump again. This should be repeated 12-15 times.

2. Calf Raises – Stand on an object that is at least two inches off the ground. Just let the balls of your feet and toes be flat on the surface. In this position, your heels should hang off the surface. Lower your heels as low as you can, then rise up onto your toes. This exercise should be repeated 12-15 times.

3. Squat Push – Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, bend your legs and let your butt come all the way to where it almost touches your calves, then stand up straight. 4. Sprint as often as you can – The best way to get faster is to improve your body movements in a sprinting situation, so practice this as often as you can.
