Fantasy Football Auction Leagues – Where You Get to Pick Your Losing Team

When you play in leagues that force a fantasy football auction draft, it really takes the fun out of the game. You might be totally psyched to play in a league that uses an auction to draft players. Before you jump into this, remember that the whole point of playing fantasy games is to let anyone have a football team. Once you add a player’s dollar value to the drafting process, it really takes the spirit out of the game.

Years before fantasy sports became a household addiction, many fans were looking for a way to put together their own teams of players from different teams. It was this longing that gave birth to the game of fantasy football.

The whole point of fantasy sports is to open up the world of NFL football ownership, management and championships to everyone. The winners would usually know more about the NFL than others, but even owners of bad teams can still look forward to seeing who they end up with in the draft.

In the fantasy football auction draft, everyone bids on players, so whoever manages their budget the best wins. Plus, you have to wait for hours only to find out that you lost the offer to some guy. This is a tedious, time-consuming process that I can’t imagine any true fantasy football fan getting involved with. What baffles me is that people actually join these types of leagues.

Team building is the best part of the game. Sure winning every week helps too, but the draft is your first big win. Bidding for players at an auction detracts from the whole intent of the game. There are hundreds of regular leagues available, so stay away from auction draft leagues.

You draw your team, everyone else does the same, and then you’re ready to play. No waiting hours upon hours for a bid to appear on over a hundred players.

I know there are some fantasy fans out there who will disagree, so I just have to ask why? The fact that some people love the fantasy draft auction really doesn’t make sense to me? Ask yourself what the auction offers compared to a league with a normal draft spot? PPR leagues, love them, IDP leagues, bring them on, any fantasy football auction draft league, sorry, I’ll pass. It’s all like catching dogs with your mouth.
